How do you show someone you love them with out saying it?

Do the dishes or make dinner - actions speak loader than words.

Are you in love (wink, wink)? With who, or what?

Yes! Very! I’m getting married in July! Her name is Jennifer and I met her in 2006 while painting a heart mural in Williamsburg.

What snack food do you love, I mean looooove, the most?

Rice Krispies Treats—hands down.

What do you love about Williamsburg?

I love the people. It is an amazing parade of personality, fashion, ideas, and dreamers.

What do you love doing on Saturday nights?

I normally work until about 11pm and then come home and watch Law & Order with my girl and think about how happy I am not to be in a bar.

Now, let’s get personal…

Where are you from and where did you study art?

Born and raised in Chicago and I studied at the Art Institute of Chicago.

The hearts are not all you do, but it’s what you’re known for…yes? How did that start?

The Hearts are my most commercial work blurring many boundaries between art, fashion, advertising, and design. It all began in the late 1990’s in Chicago —it was a response to the street art at the time which was pretty aggressive and angry. I thought it would be interesting to make something super soft and unexpected, it caught on, and I’m happy to say, continues to grow.

How many cities have you bestowed your inspirational wheat paste and painted hearts?

Chicago, NewYork, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Other hearts have made it all over the world, but the wheat paste guys go as far as I can carry them.

Where do you live?

After years and years in Williamsburg, I just made the move to Long Island City.

Your bio says you have a MONKEY??? What’s up with that?

My monkey’s name is Del (Delavan) we’ve lived together since I was 7 years old and he’s been my closest friend and confidant. He often dons a silk top hat and monocle and stares at the moon reciting sonnets.

Any other notable tidbits for our readers?

I have never eaten a hot dog or macaroni and cheese.

I like the Grateful Dead.

I cried watching the Hanna Montana Movie.

I currently have a window display up at Desert Island Book Store in Williamsburg. You can also snag anything from my plush hearts to my postcards there. Heart paintings and flags are up at Gimme!
